Alice Cooper debuts his new “spooky” track

We’re only a day into October, but thanks to Alice Cooper we already have our first Halloween track of the year entitled “Keeping Halloween Alive”. Cooper co-wrote the number alongside Piggy D (of Rob Zombie) who is featured playing rhythm guitar/backup vocals, and also stars Dave Pino (of Powerman 5000) on lead guitar and David Spreng (of The Bravery) on drums.

Cooper’s signature angsty garage-punk growl hails strong on “Keeping Halloween Alive” and will certainly help this single to reach “Halloween classic” status quickly. When asked of the song’s origins Cooper divulged, “At home my family all gathers around an old spooky tree decorated with skulls and bones in the living room, and we exchange gifts. It’s our holiday. We even all have matching black-and-orange Halloween sweaters! I wanted a theme song for people like me, and for us Halloween never ends. In the chorus I say, ‘I’m keepin’ Halloween alive, baby, 3–6–5’… and I mean it!”

“Keeping Halloween Alive” is now available digitally and exclusively through Shout! Factory, as well as its accompanying bonus karaoke (a.k.a. “Cooperoke”) track. No word on whether Cooper will bust out the selection(s) on his currently ongoing tour, but you’ll certainly have plenty of opportunities to find out. Tickets here.
