Blood Warrior readies debut releases, fall tour

While the name Blood Warrior sounds more like a Slayer cover band than indie-folk outfit, the newly formed collective featuring O’Death frontman Greg Jamie, Super Monster’s Joey Weiss, and Mirah’s Kristin Kellas and Rubin Berger are indeed the latter. And come November 3rd, the New York band will look to emphasis this fact when it releases its debut 7″ on November 3rd via EJRC.

The two-track release, which includes selections titled “Darling Eyes” and “Sick Won’t Let Me Die “, is said to illustrate Blood Warrior’s “distinct sound” — as a result, you’ll hear everything from Casios and autoharps to chord organs and marching drums, all rooted in a sound mixing folk, gospel and psychedelia — and provides a taste of what is to come. The band expects to release its debut full-length early next year.

In support of the release, Blood Warrior will hit the road later this month for a series of stops up and down the east coast. Included will be shows with Karl Blau, LAKE, and Peter and the Wolf as well as an appearance at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon.
