Update: The band has also announced its first ever west coast tour dates. Scroll down!

After live bootlegs galore, finally some studio work for Them Crooked Vultures has surfaced. Makes sense, given that the supergroup’s debut hits streets in a matter of weeks now (November 17th). The new studio cut is actually a bite of what’s to come — puns overload here, folks — and it’s called, “New Fang”. A fitting title considering Halloween is just a few days away, right?

Much like the wolf the fangs belong to, this one prowls. It’s loud, it’s stuffed with guitar work, and it drives home hard. Josh Homme’s signature scowl is present and seems to float upon Dave Grohl’s tense yet tight-as-ever drumming. The real hero here, however, is John Paul Jones, who steals the track with some paranoid bass lines and out of control organ work. So overall, is it jaw dropping? No. But it rocks… and really, what else did you expect?

Trick or treat, folks.

“New Fang” will serve as the album’s first single and will be serviced to radio as of midnight Monday, October 26th.
