OK Go live performance to feature lasers

The gentlemen of OK Go are no strangers to what otherwise can be considered as creative gimmicks. So, news that the band will support the forthcoming release of its new studio album, Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, with a live performance that will implement the use of laser technology isn’t all that surprising.

As the story goes, OK Go will team up with technologically-pioneering designer Moritz Waldemeyer to stage a “groundbreaking Design Performance” during this year’s Design Miami/, the international design festival that will take place between December 1st through December 5th in Miami Design District. Said “groundbreaking” performance will consist of the band playing with customized Gibson guitars that, when played, interact with a video wall and leave traces that illustrate the music in real time. The lasers emulate the strings of the guitar, and vibrations transmit beautiful visual interpretations of the sound.

In other, less interesting news, the band also recently unveiled Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky‘s first single, “WTF?” and its accompanying music video. It can be acquired this very second via iTunes. The album itself will be available beginning January 12th via Capitol Records.
