What was supposed to be metal heaven in the form of tour of Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Metallica sadly never happened. But like the mythological creatures many metalheads love so much, half of that ferocious foursome, Megadeth and Slayer, are rising from the ashes of crushed dreams and kicking off the “American Carnage” tour in 2010.

The tour kicks off January 18th in Seattle, WA, hits up 26 cities and ends triumphantly in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is the first time since 1991’s “Clash of the Titans” tour that the metal giants have toured together in the States. They previously laid waste to western Canada in June and Australia back in October. Joining the group as a special guest is mainstays Testament, which also hasn’t played with the two acts in nearly 20 years.

Megadeth is touring in support of 2009’s Endgame, their back-to-basics approach that was released in September. Slayer is going strong after their 10th studio effort, World Painted Blood, the band’s first since 2006’s controversial Christ Illusion. This tour also comes  the same day as the band canceled a planned European tour. Testament will release Testament’s The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, which features unreleased bonus tracks, on February 23rd, 2010.

Tickets go on sale November 20th at Ticketmaster.com. Ticketmaster is also opening up a special presale offer from November 18th at 10 a.m. until November 19th at 10 p.m. “In recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having,” Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the “1991 price” of $10.00.  These specially-priced tickets will be available in limited quantity.
