In the wake of the tragedy in Haiti, ordinary citizens, Hollywood actors, and chart-topping musicians are trying to find ways to react. For the likes of Jay-Z, producer Swizz Beatz and rock giants U2, they’re sticking to what they know best: Making music.

According to HipHopDX.com and Sohh.com, word of a possible pro-Haiti collaboration among the musical heavy-hitters first broke after Beatz tweeted that “Me, Bono, Hova, have something to say about Haiti stay tunned [sic],” he wrote. “I told you I was working on something amazing for Haiti they need us!!!!” Beatz apparently came to Jay with the idea, and he then contacted the band. Over the weekend, guitarist The Edge confirmed that the track had already been recorded.

“Last night we wrote a song…Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz,” The Edge said over a series of tweets. “He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So, Bono came up with the phrase on the phone, and last night we were here, we wrot a song–finished, recorded, and sent it back to them. So, that might be the next thing you hear from us.”

Not to mention, this isn’t the only hip-hop contribution to the relief effort. Kosha Dillz will be donating $10,000 dollars from an upcoming tour featuring Slick Rick, Del the Funkyhomosapien, and Skee Lo. Plus, Dipsets’ Juelz Santana and Jim Jones will be involved in a special benefit concert. Plus, there was yesterday’s Houston For Haiti concert, which featured the likes of Slim Thug and UGK’s Bun B.

The song, which has no release date, is undoubtedly going to debut soon as to actually have an impact on the rebuilding process. We’ll keep you updated regarding its release.
