In the early 90’s, Evan Dando and his band, The Lemonheads, were an alternative to the alternative. Less known for his actual music than his slacker look, drug exploits, and actress girlfriends, Dando’s most recognizable song is most likely The Lemonheads’ cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson”. It is fitting, then, that his newest solo tour is in support of a recent covers collection, entitled Varshons.
According to ALTsounds, Dando will hit the road for six weeks, performing a mixture of Lemonheads’ classics (there were some, right?), tracks from his solo releases, and some of the covers from the aforementioned, Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers) produced record. The venues seem to promise intimate gatherings, so all you girls who have seen Reality Bites a few too many times can get a glimpse into what Ethan Hawke’s character would be like 20 years later.
