Try and imagine Julian Casablancas in his free time. If you’re like me, and your imagination gets the best of you, you’re probably seeing the lanky frontman either watching Blade Runner on BETA or decorating his living room with wall panels that seem fitting for the Death Star set out of 1977’s Star Wars. So, the guy’s a nostalgic  in my mind. Is that such an oddball thing to suggest? If we’re going by his choices in artwork, both with or without The Strokes, everything does feel “dated.” But that’s a charming aspect and, in all honesty, a much more aesthetically pleasing image than say, no pun intended, “the modern age.”

Still working off his solo album, Phrazes for the Young, despite the upcoming reunion, Casablancas has unveiled his new video for last year’s hot, hot single, “11th Dimension”. Utilizing fresh, vibrant colors, time-spanning costumes, and moody smoke machines, this baby looks like 1984-era David Lynch had his hands all over it. Comparisons to everything from Dune to Mad Max to Tron to even Total Recall could be drawn here — it’s a sci-fi exploitation!

Sigh, does anyone else wish they could just hang out with him? Maybe trade loose action figures, digress on the untimely death of Grand Moff Tarkin, or you know, something cool like that?
