The television network that currently sports such Emmy Award winning programming as Real World, Jersey Shore, and My Life as Liz has finally confirmed what we’ve all realized since Carson left: MTV no longer cares about music. And as unveiled today, per The Wrap, the network made it official by dropping the Music Television tagline from its logo.
MTV attempted to rationalize the decision in the following press release:
It represents a new visually defined MTV, stimulating its past, present and future and embracing its diversity. Everything from Jersey Shore, to the VMAs to collaborations with the MoMA. The logo is part of MTVs re-invention to connect with todays millennial generation and bring them in as part of the channel.
