It’s been a pretty up-and-down year for Rufus Wainwright thus far. The renowned musician spent much of January touring the globe in anticipation of his new studio album, only to ultimately cancel many dates due to the death of his mother, Kate McGarrigle. Now, Wainwright makes his fiery return with his next studio release, All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu.
In a posting on his official website (via TFB), Wainwright revealed that his first studio LP in three years will see releases on March 23rd in Canada, April 5th in the UK, and April 20th in the US. The album will sport 12 tracks, many of which feature the word “sonnet” in their title — perhaps an influence of his recent dabble in the opera? Stay tuned for more details and “your first taste of the album soon.” Can’t wait.
