Band of Horses returns with Infinite Arms

By no means has Band of Horses been taking it easy over the last year (evidence here, here, and here). But it has been three years since the release of the band’s sophomore effort, Cease to Begin, hit record stores. So, looking to accompany their upcoming bus trips with something new to support, the South Carolina outfit has announced plans for the release of Infinite Arms.

As Pitchfork notes, the album was produced by the band and longtime collaborator Phil Ek and marks the debut for touring members Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. All five members are said to have had a hand in the recording process, causing frontman Ben Bridwell to declare, “in many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record.” Time to fix the Wikipedia discography!

What we don’t know about the album is how many tracks it will feature (as many as 27 songs were reportedly written) or which label will release it. The band’s former? label Sub Pop has yet to announce the release, which could be a sign that the two sides are no longer tied. Either way, we’re be getting it comes May 18th.

And as alluded to, Band of Horses will support the release with a heavy summer of touring. Appearances at New Orleans Jazz Festival and Sasquatch! are included, as is an April headlining tour of the U.S.
