Gogol Bordello has finally unveiled the first single from its highly anticipated fifth studio album Trans-continental Hustle, due out on April 27th. And what’s even better is that it’s free! You heard that right. In exchange for your email address you can now download the energetic string-ridden Brazilian influenced “Pala Tute” (unveiled last year at select live performances) from their website. Plus, you’ll be able to get a first look at the album’s official cover art shot on the streets of Rio de Janeiro by photographer Danny North featured to your right.
Inspired by the band’s many wildly outrageous adventures on the road and drawing from each members own immigrant history, Trans-continental Hustle is a storybook of love and heartbreak eloquently re-told by Hutz himself. Incorporating a hodgepodge of musical styles Trans-continental Hustle takes you through a series of hilarious and heart-wrenching scenarios; from the struggles and celebrations of Rio de Janeiro’s favelas (where Hutz currently resides) to outsider interpretations of gypsies in his native Ukraine.
Eugene Hutz and his pack of ferocious gypsy punks are also gearing up for another international fiesta entitled the “Casa Gogol Tour”, which kicks off in Australia on March 28th with a short list of North American dates following April 18th through May 1st. Starring a number of exciting guests including the Slavic-punk band DeVotchKa, punk troubadour Jesse Mail, and electro-anarchists Tres Leches Afterparty Sound Crew, the “Casa Gogol Tour” promises wicked bruises, sore feet ,and partying tabor style. As we’ve seen before, Gogol Bordello possess an insanely captivating energy that would send most bands to the emergency room, but where others fall Gogol Bordello stands up and fight! So get ready to scream and shout, because our favorite nine-piece band of crazies and gypsy punk rock enthusiasts are back and raring to go!
