There’s been a lot of talk about T.I.‘s new album, his first since serving time in a Cobb County, Georgia prison, without much to show where Tip is headed creatively. Now that all changes as (via Pitchfork) T.I. proudly proclaims his return with the track “I’m Back”.
Like originally promised, it’s not a departure from the pre-incarceration Paper Trail effort. But what is abundant is that the passion and fury is still there, possibly even hardened by his time in the big house. It’s just as boastful as other T.I. tracks, but it’s much more ferocious and less stylized than any other of his recent offerings. Whether the simplified, banger of a beat is indicative of the whole record or just a chance to put people on notice, we’ll have to wait till the album’s release on August 24th.
