Gorillaz announce U.K. tour dates

In anticipation of its Sunday headlining performance at next month’s Coachella Music Festival, Gorillaz has mapped out a six-date U.K. tour for later this month. Designed to road test the “new live band,” the Damon Albarn-led group will reportedly be accompanied by Plastic Beach collaborators/former Clash members Mick Jones and Paul Paul Simonon — a mini Clash reunion! — and will use the dates to rehearse for its upcoming Coachella set.

“They are live rehearsals – the core band will be going through the set for Coachella – basic and raw – no frills – allowing the band to tighten up on front of an audience. However, they assure us the band are sounding fantastic!,” explained the band’s management in an issued statement to

Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on which side you fall), tickets will be limited only to members of the newly launched G-Club and will come on a first served basis. Click here for more info.

Still, don’t fret too much. According to Gorillaz manager Miles Leonard (via, the band plans to embark on an “extensive” tour later this year, most of which will come in the headlining variety. “We are doing very few festivals this year. I would prefer to go out and have the band play their own headline shows first,” explained Morrison. We’ll of course have more details when they become available.
