So it’s a new decade now and everyone is acting like they’ve never seen anything in 3D before. The trend started somewhere between My Bloody Valentine and James Cameron’s Avatar late last year and now almost every advertisement that comes on T.V. for any new media (film or audio) has squeezed in the catch phrase “now in 3D” as its final tagline. From Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland to Phish’s new 3D film it feels like Hollywood’s been taking every measure and then some to sky-rocket ticket sales. And with all this in the works, we can only hope the whole 3D experience is about to get a serious wake up call from Lady Gaga at the top of the dial.
You heard that right. According to a rep from her label, Interscope Records, “there are talks about a 3-D concert and DVD in the near future”. And considering Gaga’s already outrageous costumes and stage displays, we can only imagine what this will add to her live performances. Unfortunately, little information has been revealed as to how or what a 3D Gaga experience might look like, but with fan sites turned on full speed ahead it’s definitely going to be easy to find a few hopeful interpretations.
While a 3D Gaga experience may come off as shocking for some it’s really not all that far fetched considering her inclusion of a pair of 3D glasses with each copy of last December’s Fame Monster. It seems Gaga has had this plan in the works for awhile, guess that’s why she mysteriously explained the glasses would come in handy “for things happening soon” shortly after its release.
Currently, Gaga is in the midst of the Australian leg of her monstrous Monster Ball Tour (next stop Japan) and is also putting the final touches on the highly anticipated music video for “Telephone”, which will premiere this Thursday at 11:30 p.m. (EST) on E! News.
