John Mayer extends his touring efforts, brings weird group of backing bands along

It was bad enough when John Mayer went on tour the first time around in support of Battle Studies. Countless girlfriends and moms alike swooned over his guitar skills, his heartbroken nerdy vibe, and his tales of life with Jennifer Aniston. But now he’s gone and extended his tour throughout the summer of 2010. At least he’s brought along The Avett Brothers. And a few other… surprises.

It seems as if the plan is to wrap up the handful of dates in April, hit up a few festivals between May, June, and July, and then kick things off again on July 16th in Charlotte, NC. It’s a pretty hectic flurry of dates across the U.S. and Canada until the whole shebang comes to a close on September 11th in West Palm Beach, FL. It seems as if The Avett Brothers will only be on the tour for just four or so dates. If you happen to see Mayer during any other part of the tour, expect the likes of San Francisco mainstream rockers Train and everyone’s favorite Postal Service redo Owl City. Man, that guy really is everywhere.

Tickets go on sale April 17th via Ticketmaster.com.
