Menomena ready numero quatro

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Menomena. The Portland trio floored us back in 2007 with Friend and Foe, toured relentlessly, and then vanished a year later. But they’re back now, and they come bearing gifts… like a brand new studio album!

Titled Mines, the group’s fourth effort promises to be all sorts of awesome. Actually they never made any such promises, but let’s just say our expectations are pretty high — especially if we’re to base anything off their Pitchfork.tv appearance last year. Or, anything they’ve ever released, for that matter.

But wait! That’s not all. On April 17th — you know, Record Store Day? — Menomena plans to release a split 7″ with the equally awesome Helio Sequence. The song’s called “Pilgrim’s Progress” and you can hear it below.

Okay guys, since you’re back now, maybe you could squeeze in an appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival? Pretty please? That. Would. Be. Sweet.

Mines hits streets July 27th via Barsuk.
