So, say tomorrow night, following your Record Store Day buying binge, you find yourself in Manhattan looking for something musically related to do that is both fun and cheap. Might we suggested heading to Webster Hall, where the 6th annual “Shred For Your Life” Guitar Battle will be going down.
It might sound a bit cheesy, but this thing is legit. Guest judges include Andrew W.K., Justin Theroux (actor/writer Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2), and TV on the Radio’s Jaleel Bunton. What’s more, past participants include Mike Einziger (Incubus), Brad Shanks (Blood On The Wall), Rhandy Randall (No Age), Matt Sweeney (Chavez/Zwan), John Stanier (Battles/Helmet), Andy Mcleod (White Magic), Brad Truax (White Magic/Jah Division), and Torbit Schwartz (Chin Chin). Plus, the winner takes home a three foot foot guitar pick by artist Neck Face and a guitar crown, which just sounds hilariously awesome.
