At this point, enough has been said about Record Store Day. I mean, you can already view all the scheduled releases here and, if you’re like me, the last thing you want to read is about how Record Store Day is the most kick ass day of the entire year! We all know already!
But then stuff like the following news shows up and we’re reminded that, even despite all the scheduled releases and Billy Corgan performances, there are still many more surprises that have yet to be announced.
As TwentyFourBit reports, Jack White’s Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee will celebrate Record Store Day with a performance from none other than The “Racontwoers”. As Third Man explains, Raconteurs members Brenndan Benson and Patrick Keeler along with “some friends” will be performing Raconteurs songs under the moniker The “Racontwoers”. The only downside (and the reason why it’s not actually The Raconteurs) is that fellow Raconteurs members Jack White and Jack Lawrence will likely not be appearing, as they’re scheduled to appear as this weekend’s Coachella Music Festival with The Dead Weather.
That’s alright though, because in addition to The “Racontwoers” performance, Third Man will be selling 300 Copper Colored Record Store Day limited edition copies of The Raconteurs’ debut LP Broken Boy Soldiers. Attendees to the show will also be eligible for more exclusive vinyl in the form of our second Black and Blue release of the performance. And finally, Third Man will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win either Benson or Lawrence’s Go Carts from the “Steady As She Goes” video. As for Jack’s Kart? It will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with all proceeds to benefit the Nashville Homeless Mission.
Third Man Records is located at 623 7th Avenue South in Nashville, Tennessee. The festivities are scheduled to begin at 12pm.
