Wavves announce new album

If you thought Wavves first album felt like a belly flop after a sunburn, it’s entirely possible you may be able put up an umbrella and chill on the beach this time around. It’s also entirely possible that that umbrella will blow down and stab you the heart. Either way, Wavves second LP, King of the Beach promises to be a departure from their previous effort, and you will be able to find out if you can handle the surf on August 2nd via Bella Union. Meanwhile, we have the new cover art for the album for your viewing pleasure. When was the last time you saw that font, like, 1992? Awesome.

“There was a conscious effort going into this that I didn’t want to make the same record again. I already made the same record twice, with the same f*cking cover art,” quipped Williams (via TheLineOfBestFit). “It wasn’t overbearing, but I didn’t want to recreate something I’d done. I wanted to make something bigger, something stronger.”

Per the standard, expect a tracklist to follow soon.

Update: Stereogum has links to two tracks from the album.
