The self-proclaimed “Big Four” (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth) combined their collective shredding abilities in Sofia, Bulgaria last week when, well, 75% of them came out on stage for an epic rendition of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil”. They melted faces and rocked out as if they were harbingers of the Norse apocalypse Ragnarök, set to engulf the world in a fiery battle of the Æsir to signify the end of days. Yes, it was that epic.
And if you missed the show, or missed the broadcast of the shows at your local cineplex, then worry not, because it will be immortalized for all time in the canon of metal. According to BW&BK, the Bulgaria concert will see a DVD/Blu-Ray release showcasing the entire concert including 2 hours of Metallica, and 1 hour each of Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer. The 2-disc package is due out in September and will include the “Am I Evil” jam, backstage footage, and, Lord willing, a group commentary.

And, for the sake of fun, next time you’re on the train or at a public fountain or something, arm yourself with your best Dave Mustaine impression and recite one of the verses from “Sweating Bullets” real loud. Everyone will probably ignore you, but you’ll know the real score. Metal forever!
