Brian May announces Guitar Hero: Queen?

If you were planning to get Rock Band 3 solely for its inclusion of “Bohemian Rhapsody” (a reasonable thing to do), you might want to hold off for a bit. According to Giant Bomb (via Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles), Queen may have its own video game out in 2011 for the competing Guitar Hero franchise.

While nothing is confirmed, Giant Bomb reports Queen guitarist Brian May let out word about Guitar Hero: Queen in an interview with Swedish site DN.se. If true, Queen would join the likes of  Metallica, Aerosmith, The Beatles, Green Day, and Van Halen on the growing list of bands that have been given the band simulator treatment.

This would be the second time Queen has been featured in its own video game, the first being the 2009 karaoke game SingStar Queen. But if the guys at Activision actually hope to take gamers away from the upcoming Rock Band installment, they’d better realize that no amount of playable Queen tunes is going to top the freedom to sing harmonized vocals to “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
