Just about two weeks ago, we revealed that the English nu-rave outfit Klaxons are releasing their sophomore album Surfing the Void on August 23rd in the UK via Polydor and three days earlier in Australia. The outfit celebrated the news by streaming the album’s first single “Flashover”, and have now released Surfing The Void’s lead track “Echoes”. Oh yeah, and they forever changed the definition of what makes for an awesome album cover.
“Echoes” is much more reminiscent of the band’s earlier work — aka the danceable, Mercury Prize winning Myths of the Near Future — than the rocked out “Fleshover”. However, don’t think that’s a sign of things to come. With Ross Robinson producing the album, one would expect the remaining tracks to be a bit-harder edge than the Klaxons 2007 debut, given his notoriety for working with Slipknot, Korn, and Sepultura.
After checking out “Echoes” and the track listing below, you can pre-order the import through the Modular Store. No official US release date or tour has currently been announced, but we promise to keep you updated.
