Nothing against Brandon Flowers, but I’m just not sure he’s the type of guy who can pull off a solo album. As the newly leaked first single from his forthcoming solo debut Flamingo illustrates, his solo stuff sounds just like his Killers stuff, complete with those New Wavy guitar and piano overlays and grand, echoy choruses. Plus, it doesn’t help that Flowers has some of the more distinct vocals in all of music.
All that being said, if you’re a fan of The Killers, you’re probably going to love it. If you’re not, then there’s 34 other albums worth checking out in the near future. Either way, judge for yourself below (via Idolator).
Update: Flowers has confirmed a June 21st release for “Crossfire”. Flamingo is due out in September.
