Vinyl enthusiasts finally have a pseudo-taste of what the new Thermals album actually sounds like. (You are about to listen to an MP3 after all). As we reported earlier this month, the band once again holed up with Chris Walla to record Personal Life using 2-inch tape mixed to ½-inch tape, before mastering the final mix without the help of computers. Take that Pro-Tools!
While the vinyl 7-inch doesnt hit the streets until August 10 (via Kill Rock Stars), an MP3 of the song I Dont Believe You is now available for download (via Pitchfork). The cynical single has the same energy as last years ode to Canada and even features the same Whoa-oh-oh shout-along chorus. Hutch Harris basically laments on people giving him excuses while Kathy Foster and Westin Glass provide that trademark Thermals energy that weve come to love. Just take a listen below to add some fuzzy guitars and loud drumming to your morning coffee or Red Bull.
Personal Life drops on September 7th. In the meantime, check out the band at one of the tour dates below. Tickets for select dates are available via Ticketmaster.com.
