Daniel Dumile is undeniably an Icon of Rock. However, the lyrically brilliant MC better known as Doom currently seems more focused on permanently tarnishing his career than progressing hip-hop. The New York-raised rapper truly has an immense breadth of talent, but as his notoriety grows, so does the parody of his own masked villainy. Live impostors, long delays, and canceled performances may be Doom’s means of challenging the current state of popular hip-hop, but he is quickly trading his recognition as a figurehead in the game for Adult Swim fame. Apparently Frylock, Brak, and Harvey Birdman are just more “real” than current rap aficionados.
Doom will now be taking his antics across the pond for his first full European tour. Beginning October 13th in Manchester, UK, Doom will perform 12 shows across Europe. If his packed hometown performance this past March in London, that’s right Doom is actually British, is any clue, European fans aren’t too worried about any Doompostors. For one, I hope Doom gets caught up in a regional sightseeing tour or Rotterdam coffee shop so fans can determine if there are country specific impostors, or a single well-travelled performer. A complete list of dates follows, expect the list is bound to change often as shows will be canceled, added, postponed, and then also possibly canceled again.
