Though at the time the only detail we knew about the project is that it features Jenny Lewis and her boyfriend Johnathan Rice, we still selected Jenny and Johnny‘s forthcoming debut as one of our must buys for 2010. So far, the duo hasn’t made us regret this decision.
In addition to mapping out their first ever U.S. tour (more on that in a moment), Jenny and Johnny today unveiled the first track off I’m Having Fun Now, a rather catchy guitar driven number titled “Scissor Runner”, which, appropriately enough, hears the hottest boy girl indie duo since She & Him taking turn on lead vocals. So there’s that to expect from the effort when it drops later this year (via TwentyFourBit).
Getting back to that tour, it kicks off in Santa Cruz, California on September 1st and will see the outfit traveling through the West Coast first — an appearance at Bumbershoot included — before heading east and hitting Minneapolis, Chicago, and Cleveland along the way. An East Coast trek than follows, which includes two dates opening for Pavement in Boston and Brooklyn. Finally, Jenny and Johnny will head back west for a date with Belle & Sebastian in Hollywood.
