Say what you want about Lollapalooza, but there is no denying that the Chicago festival gives adequate time in preparing who you’ll be seeing and when. Today, nearly two months before the festival is set to launch on August 6th, the day-by-day schedule has been revealed. So what do we do got?
Well, Friday sees B.o.B. and Javelin kicking things off in the morning, followed by performances by The Walkmen, Jukebox the Ghost, and The Big Pink. The biggest conflicts come in the latter portion of the day: Devo will play against The New Pornographers at 4:00 pm, while Matt & Kim, Dirty Projectors, and Fuck Buttons all begin their respective sets at 5:00pm. The Black Keys vs. Hot Chip is also a pretty difficult conflict, as is anyone — like me — who wants to see both The Strokes and Lady Gaga close out Friday.
Saturday should probably feature quite a bit of walking, as must see acts like Stars, Dawes, Metric, Deer Tick, Spoon, Ed Sparpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and Green Day all playing on different stages. As for the biggest conflicts? Ed Sharpe vs. Spoon definitely sucks, as does Empire of the Sun vs. Green Day.
If you’re a fan of the indies, then Sunday might be a good day to stay planted at the Budweiser stage. The Antlers kick things off and will be followed by Blitzen Trapper, Yeasayer, MGMT, and Arcade Fire. Oh, and The National will play right before Win Butler’s crew on the Playstation stage, which may be the greatest one two punch of the weekend. On the opposite side of the park, Soundgarden will close down the South stage.
