Matt & Kim prep Grand tour ahead of new album

If you have never seen Matt & Kim perform, a couple things you should know are A.) expect unending energy for the entire set including acrobatics and anecdotes and B.) They seem happy in a almost scary way. Especially Kim. Not too bad for a band still touring behind the same album, 2009’s Grand. If you haven’t seen them this whole time, fret not; they’re making the rounds once more.

Pretty much everyone will have an opportunity to see for yourself as Matt & Kim continue the final Grand push, beginning with the lovely people in L.A. They will play two free shows over the weekend, Make Music Pasadena (CoS will have a full report on this) and PacSun Summer Solstice Beach Ballyhoo, but after that, you gotta pay to see these guys. Lollapalooza is on tap, as is ACL. They will also visit Japan, Belgium, Chicago and Brooklyn. While it’s sure to be tiring and lonely at times, Matt & Kim are certainly seizing their opportunity to win over fans in every media market.

Finally, at some point in the fall, Fader will effectively end the Grand promotional tour when the third Matt & Kim album is released. The final touches are being put on as we speak, so expect to hear some new Matt & Kim tracks at these dates. No specifics have been given, but the band has been working with Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective) on the effort.

Tickets for the newly announced dates go on sale starting Wednesday, June 23rd via Ticketmaster.com.
