If you live in London, then Christmas is coming in June… or, more specifically, tomorrow tonight.
Call them whatever you want, but The Strokes are making an earlier-than-anticipated return to the stage. Theyve officially announced a secret show scheduled for tomorrow at Dingwalls, which is located at Londons Camden Lock. It will be the New York outfit’s first live performance since 2006.
The UK warm-up show comes in advance of a slew of festival dates throughout Europe. The band’s first show is officially set for this Saturday at the Isle of Wright Festival, but clues have been leading up to a secret show in London all week.
The Strokes first tweeted the phrase Good Morning London on June 5th, and followed that up by posting pictures of the citys famed Camden Lock along with messages asking Why wont you come over here? Since then, a Strokes-esque logo with the word Venison has been posted on both the band’s website and Twitter as well as Dingwalls events page. The band will play under that moniker tomorrow night.
Tickets, which will only available through the Dingwalls website, will go on sale tonight at 9PM BST. The place holds less than 500 people, so you better get on it if you dont want to pay an arm and a leg to get in.
If you don’t make it, then keep your fingers crossed for a new album in September, or err… January — that is if this reunion lasts that long.
