The Walkmen hits the road with The National, Japandroids, The Black Keys

You’re saying to yourself, “Wait, The Walkmen have a new album? OMG!” Then you may be thinking how could this joyous occasion get any better? How about even more tour dates than announced before, all adding up to a crazy Summer/fall that will see frontman Hamilton Leithauser and company share the stage with The National, Japandroids, The Black Keys, Grizzly Bear, A.A. Bondy, and more. Now you can thank us (and Pitchfork, of course.)

The band’s endeavors are set to kick off July 2nd at the Taste of MN fest and will be followed by a few other high-profile North American festival appearances, including Osheaga and Lollapalooza. Then, after an appearance at the UK-based Reading and Leeds in late August, The Walkmen will make their way back to North America for a batch of newly announced dates. Early September sees shows with Helio Sequence and The National before a steady stream of headlining gigs with Japandroids through the end of of the month. After a few dates sharing the stage with A.A. Bondy in early October, it’s another chunk of Japandroids shows leading up to the tour’s finale in Philadelphia on October 23rd. Finally, the band will wrap up their current tour schedule by returning to Europe for dates with The Black Keys in late October and early November.

In summary, you have almost no excuse to miss The Walkmen this year.

Tickets for the newly announced American dates are on sale starting Friday, June 25th via Ticketmaster.com. Lisbon is due out September 14th (what a magical day) via Fat Possum.
