Watch: Broken Social Scene's timely "Texico Bitches" on Fallon

Broken Social Scene is generally touted to be one of the best live acts today. I myself saw the Canadian outfit five years ago, right before its self-titled album came out and just after sometime member/producer Dave Newfield got the shit kicked out of him by NYPD’s finest. It was an emotional and romantic show that felt intimate and epic, oscillating back and forth from rocking me with “7/4 Shoreline” and stunning me with “Lover’s Spit”. Half a decade later, these feelings are still experienced, as evident by Winston Robbins recent deceleration that Broken Social Scene was the best show at Sasquatch!. So, needless to say, anytime the performs live, even on an emotionless medium like TV, watching is generally required.

In recent spins of its latest Forgiveness Rock Record, I’m sure we’ve all found an eerie resonance to the up-beat “Texico Bitches”, and it’s no surprise that’s what BSS unleashed last night on Fallon. (I’m half surprised they didn’t just up and change the lyrics to “BP Bitches”). Kevin Drew and Co. sounded both tight and loose, sharp and fluid; they manage chaos. You see, BSS can alternate between styles so seamlessly its hard to convince a newcomer that these are one of the best live bands by this clip. But this performance is just the tip of the iceberg, folks.

Enjoy the video below and do check them out on their massive world/North American tour. (Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com and Seatgeek.com). As we’ve learned time and time again, it’s usually worth the price of admission.

Also don’t forget about the upcoming movie centered around a fictional/real Broken Social Scene concert. Canadian indie rom-com at its finest.
