It’s been 38 years since Devo began and the group has never been weirder. They invite fans to watch cats listen to their new album Something for Everyone; they create a maybe-fake reality show; they appear on Futurama. And that’s just this month! Now the ‘80s new wave weirdos continue their bizarre comeback with an interview and performance on The Colbert Report.

The interview makes about as much sense as you would expect. The band discusses focus groups, Kim Jong Il, and Aztec geometry. Never one to pull punches, host Stephen Colbert asked the question on everyone’s mind: “Are we not men?”

The quartet performed single “Fresh” with help from A Perfect Circle/Weezer/Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese. They seem to have lost the bizarre forehead helmets they wore on Jimmy Kimmel a few months back, which isn’t a bad thing. Watch the interview and performance below, then head to the show’s website to count the impressive number of Devo jokes Colbert crammed into the full half hour.
