Regular readers of CoS might recognize the name Joemca as someone worth “Checking Out” on a recent Friday Mixtape, but our introduction to the L.A. native/New York transplant doesn’t stop there.
Later this summer, Joemca will drop his debut full-length 16 Devils, an effort which promises to offer “the perfect balance between artiness and accessibility.” Some tracks, like the album’s first single “Big Dreams”, are straight pop gems, complete with head-nodding beats and grabbing hooks. Others feature elements varying from “hantasmagoric harmonies” to “laser-like synths and clouded keys.” Needless to say, this is far from your everyday, overly predictable indie rock album.
Below, we present you with the music video premiere for the aforementioned “Big Dreams”. The clip, which was shot in two days on a farm in upstate New York and directed by E.S. Frushtick, adds some stunning scenery behind those head-nodding beats and grabbing hooks. A nice four-minute diversion from hump day if you ask me.
16 Days is out July 20th via One Stone/The Orchard. The record’s predecessor, the Rob Stevens-produced Joemca EP, is already available.
