Lauryn Hill is back again, and by the look and sound of these videos from last weekends Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, Calif., shes got something to prove. The 35-year-old emcee and one-third of the legendary Fugees is sporting the fro no mo look and sounds primed for her upcoming performances on this years Rock the Bells Festival alongside the Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, and A Tribe Called Quest.
The grainy video shows Hill tearing through a new intro to old jam, Doo Wop (That Thing), while a stunned crowd of hippies looks on. Although she looked out of place in the woods of northern California, DimeWars reports that the once-controversial singer even praised the crowd saying, I love you, and its so good to see you.
Still Hill couldn’t avoid some criticism, and fan response from the set has been mixed. Some attendees were just stoked to see Hill on stage, but others complained that she whined about the sound for the first 20 minutes of her performance. While the stage monitors may have been poorly mixed, L-Boogie still looks and sounds good on songs like Ooh la la la. You can check out a clip of that below as well.
Check out the videos yourself and start saving your allowance if you want to see Lauryn in person. Tickets for Rock the Bells (via Ticketmaster.com) are going for up to $150 and the show is only stopping in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, and Washington D.C.
