Taking a page from another acclaimed indie outfit, Arcade Fire will stream their August 5th concert at New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden as a live YouTube webcast. The news comes from a newly unveiled trailer (via Gorilla vs. Bear), which also features a brief snippet of “Rococo”, a previously unheard track off the band’s forthcoming third album The Suburbs. Oh yeah, and you can see what Win and Regine look like as puppets, too.
Gorilla vs. Bear reports that the webcast is being “directed by a well-known, as-yet-unnamed luminary.” Update: ArcadeFireTube reports the trailer was directed by Spike Jonze, so probably there’s your answer for the “well-known, as-yet-unnamed luminary.”
Update #2: The Vine says the trailer is not by Jonze but rather Montreal based film and production company Clyde Henry. Arcade Fire’s rep is not commenting one way or another.
We’ll update you when more details become available. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
