Check Out: Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band – “Hurrah” (CoS Premiere)

Ever since first discovering Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band at Bonnaroo ’09, their 2009 self-titled debut has been on my regular listening rotation. So, when Joe Marvilli shared the news that the Seattle outfit would soon be releasing their sophomore album Where The Messengers Meet, I immediately stopped what I was doing and marked the album’s August 3rd release date (via Dead Oceans) on my calendar.

“Hurrah” is our second taste off the forthcoming 12-track effort and, much like “Leaving Trails”, it lives up to the band’s promise of cohesive, powerful compositions that mix the “delicate and gentle” and the “dark and furious.” That in mind, don’t be fooled by the song’s restrained opening. Either that or you — and everyone around you — are in for a pretty loud and powerful surprise upon reaching it’s musical climax.

Be one of the first to check out “Hurrah” by streaming it below. Then enjoy it along with the other 11 potent selections beginning August 3rd.
