Upon first listening to The Big Black and The Blue, the debut release by First Aid Kit, one expects the tracks to have been written in America’s Heartland. As it turns out, sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg, who’ve been composing songs as First Aid Kit since 2007, were born and raised near Stockholm, Sweden. So what’s the best way to unravel this mystery? Ask the sisters themselves as they tour North America this fall.
The girls, neither of whom have quite turned 20, recently concluded a 13-date North American tour June 16th in New York, and already they’ve planned a return visit. I guess we made a pretty good first impression. First Aid Kit’s fall tour is set to begin September 30th in Seattle, and the girls will weave through the US and Canada until the end of October. The sisters apparently took a liking to California, where they will be performing three shows prior to moving onto Austin City Limits October 9th. After their ACL appearance, they will be making stops in Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, and DC.
