In the context of the rest of their 2010 touring itinerary, Foals’ newly-announced 17-date tour across North America is a cakewalk. In fact, comparing it to the exhausting trot across the globe that the Brighton, UK five-piece have already gotten themselves into is akin to comparing a broke hipster’s Nike Dunks collection to Emelda Marco’s shoe museum. Still, the fact that the hectic schedule hasnt stopped these mild-mannered Oxford grads from trying their hand at a little Twitter-bickering with the Lost Prophets proves that they also seem to be hell bent on proving themselves to be veritable touring iron men.
Theyre currently making the rounds on the European festival and have sold out all but one date on their weeklong detour through Australia and Japan. The Brighton five-piece then plays seven more mainland Euro-dates before skipping the river to play Irelands Electric Picnic Festival alongside the likes of Beach House, Hot Chip, and LCD Soundsystem.
Afterwards, theyll hop a flight across the pond to play venues like Chicagos Lincoln Hall and the Bowery Ballroom in New York City as they power their way across a route that takes them through Canadian and U.S. cities stretching from coast to coast. While the U.S. tour largely neglects Florida, the journey does trace a box around America before taking the boys up the west coast from San Diego to Portland before finally sending them back home to close out the year with a string of dates across the United Kingdom, France, and Holland.
The dates and opening acts havent been officially announced on most of the new venues websites, but fellow Englishmen, Esben and the Witch, are scheduled to open for the Brighton five-piece at Detroits Magic Stick.
Check out this video for a song titled after a city they wont be playing this fall, then score tickets for select dates starting Friday, July 16th on Ticketmaster.com or on Foals website.
