You already knew a Guided By Voices reunion tour was coming, but it wasn’t until right this very second before you could begin plotting when and where you’ll the newly reunited acclaimed and “classic” 1993 – 1996 lineup.
Frontman Robert Pollard, guitarists Tobin Sprout and Mitch Mitchell, bassist Greg Demos, and drummer Kevin Fennell will play the first Guided By Voices show since 2004 on September 30th in Austin, TX. In the days that follow, the outfit will appear at the already announced 20th anniversary celebration of their label, Matador at 21, in Las Vas Vegas, before making their way down up the west coast and eventually hitting the midwest — stops include Minneapolis, Chicago, and Columbus. They’ll wrap it all up with a swing of east coast dates, which will come to a culmination with a performance at New York’s Terminal 5 on November 7th. It’s the band’s last scheduled date on the tour… and probably ever.
Along the way, they’ll also make an appearance on Late Night on Jimmy Fallon on November 4th, so all is not lost for places like, say, Florida.
Times New Viking and Blitzen Trapper will split duties serving as the tour’s opener.
