This coming Halloween weekend, AC Entertainment — best known to me and you as the folks behind the Bonnaroo and Big Ears Music Festival — will unveil their latest weekend long extravaganza, MoogFest.

Set to take place from October 29-31, the festival will celebrate the life and legacy of sonic pioneer Robert Moog with a lineup featuring over 25 internationally renowned artists performing in multiple venues throughout downtown Asheville, North Carolina, including the Asheville Civic Center Arena, the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and Asheville’s renowned world-class club, the Orange Peel.

Among those already schedule to take part include Massive Attack, MGMT, and Thievery Corporation. The complete schedule of artists will be announced on July 27th.

In addition to the festival’s musical offerings, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops, engage with artists in panel discussions, enjoy visual art exhibitions, installations and film screenings, and explore their own musical creativity with a variety of Moog instruments. The North Carolina native was perhaps best known for pioneering the analog synthesizer, but he also produced a variety of other electronic instrumentals, including analog effects pedals.

”Bob Moog changed the course of music as we know it,” explained AC Entertainment’s founder, Ashley Capps, in an issued press release. “He put new worlds of sound literally at the fingertips of musicians, unleashing a creative revolution.  We’re thrilled and honored to be able to celebrate his extraordinary legacy in the place that he called home and we hope to do so for many years to come.”

Tickets will be available starting July 30th. In the meantime, bookmark the festival’s website as more information is sure to soon be available.
