Naughty By Nature is back with their first studio album in nearly a decade to feature all three original members. The self-proclaimed “kings of the hip hop anthem” will drop Anthem Inc. sometime in summer 2010.
The New Jersey trio have re-signed with Tommy Boy Entertainment, which, in partnership with the band’s Illtown Records, will dropped an EP previewing new material earlier this week. The EP features three versions of “Get to Know Me Better”: a clean, an explicit, and a “Spanglish” version. Backing up these three are clean and explicit versions of “I Gotta Lotta”, which recently had a video released online (which you can watch below).
It’s been 19 years since Naughty By Nature signed with Tommy Boy, during which time they released three albums, including the Grammy Award winning Poverty’s Paradise. After the trio split in 1999, DJ Kay Gee moved into production, while Treach became an actor, featuring in The Sopranos and Oz, as well as the hip-hop cult classic Juice. Not to be outdone, Vin Rock developed the Naughty Gear clothing line. Since the group got back together, they’ve even signed a deal with Microsoft to help promote the new EP alongisde the new Microsoft Smartphone.
As always, stay tuned for more details on Anthem Inc. as they’re announced.
