New Strokes album delayed until March 2011

Ah, that elusive new Strokes album. It was first rumored to be out September of 2010. Then January of 2011. But then Julian Casablancas of The Strokes rolled out his solo album and solo tour which obviously didn’t expedite the recording process of a new Strokes album. But, ever the… perfectionists, the band has pushed back the projected release date to March of next year (via Gigwise).

“We wanted to do it for months, or maybe a year now,” Casablancas told BBC 6 Music in a recent interview. “And we keep thinking, ‘OK, we’ll do it, for like these three weeks and then we’ll be done.’ And then we do it and we decide that we’re not done, or something comes in the way.” Well, as long as that “something” is more Strokes shows, I think it’s something we can live with.

While in waiting, check out this great piece CoS writer Winston Robbins did on The Strokes few months back, and if you’ve got the means, check them out on their all-too-short tour this summer.
