Rancid and gay porn are not two things I would associate with each other, but honestly, that is probably the fault of my narrow mind. Rancid isn’t really sexy music in general, but punks have to listen to something when they get it on. And what about the gay punks, will they just pop in some Lady Gaga? Some Black Flag?
Well, Rancid will make the tough decisions for all fans of same-sex pornographic film easy with their score for the John Roecker series Everything You Wanted To Know About Gay Porn Stars But Were Afraid To Ask. Roecker, previously the director of the Charles Manson comedy Live Freaky Die Freaky and Green Day documentary Heart Like a Hand Grenade, announced the project in 2008, but it will finally release it as a two-disc DVD set on July 27th, 2010 (via Punk News). The film will, reportedly, “give voice to the stories, stars, and scandalous secrets of the gay skin trade and honestly portray what happens after the cameras stop rolling.” How honestly can you portray what happens when the cameras stop rolling, you know, on camera? Better yet, forgot I ever asked.
Regardless, it should make for an interesting family TV night with the kids or a white elephant Christmas gift. Or maybe it is just really good. Look for it wherever non-mainstream movies are sold.
