It’s hard to nail Roxy Music down. After the recent and rather exciting news that Bryan Ferry was getting back together with Brian Eno and a whole litany of special guests to record another album, I broke out my two favorite Roxy Music jams: For Your Pleasure and Avalon. Every time, I’m floored by Ferry and his songwriting, and how you can find connections between these two seemingly disparate albums. Anyhow, kudos to you Ferry: you’re going back out on the road next year much to my delight (via Spinner).
Ferry will tour with original Roxy Music members Andy Mackay, guitarist Phil Manzanera, and drummer Paul Thompson. Though Ferry worked with Eno on his latest album, Eno will not join Roxy Music on tour.
During the “For Your Pleasure” tour, Roxy Music will be playing Great Britain starting in of 2011–the 40th anniversary of Roxy Music–for a couple of weeks at the end of January into February. Tickets are already on sale for those lucky so-and-sos across the pond. You know the only thing that would be more than this, Ferry? Some US dates.
