Even as prog rock gods, Rush can’t control the weather. That said, one fan still thinks that Geddy Lee and company should have done everything in their power to prevent a little rain. That explains why, via Exclaim.ca, that one fan is suing the Canadian trio for not providing him with his magical evening.
In the suit, 42-year-old Christopher Langone explains he flew from Upstate New York to Chicago to see the band play on July 7th at Northerly Island. The show was ultimately canceled, however, once it began to rain.
Langone contends the band should have continued to play as it was a “rain or shine” event and points to the fact that “the Chicago White Sox completed a game in the weather in Chicago on the evening of July 7th, 2010.” Well, clearly the White Sox > Rush. Langone, who is reportedly a lifelong fan of the band and a Ph.D student at Cornell University, is asking to be reimbursed for six tickets ($80 total), $250 in airfare, and a pre-show round of beers. Let’s hope that those beers cost like $10,000 grand.
Mr. Langone, if the suit doesn’t pan out, feel free to check the band on tour through October. Or, enjoy a couple new songs. All on us, of course.
