Fun fact: I’ve never seen The Hold Steady. They always seem to be that band who plays when I’m out of town or appears at the opposite festival than the one I’m attending. Well, come this fall that Hold Steady void will come to an end for me and probably a ton of other people, as the Brooklyn-Minneapolis-Ybor City-based outfit will be touring parts often forgotten — and New York… go me! — in further support of the recently released Heaven Is Whenever.
Craig Finn and Co.’s currently ongoing endeavor features a structure as the following: Tons of dates followed by a month long break followed by tons of dates followed by a month long break followed by tons of dates. The band is currently engaged in the first batch of said tons of dates and will begin the previously announced second batch in mid-August. The third batch will launch on September 20th in Richmond, VA and has the band traveling to locations like Oxford, Mississippi, Little Rock, Arkansas, Charleston, South Carolina, and Lexington, Kentucky, before coming to a conclusion in the Big Apple on October 7th. Dates for hot spots like DC, Boston, Philly, and Chicago are also on the itinerary.
