The Killers to play 4th of July concert at White House

Because a Brandon Flowers solo album basically sounds just like a Killers album, the most interesting part about the forthcoming Flamingo were the corresponding questions regarding the band’s future. If you’re confused, Flowers, the Vegas outfit’s frontman, had originally written Flamingo to serve as the next Killers album, but when the rest of his bandmates weren’t too fond of the idea and instead opted for a hiatus, Flowers decided to release the effort as his solo debut. In turn, some took the release as a sign that The Killers were to be no more, even though the band quickly denied the rumors.

Turns out they were telling the truth, at least for now. Later this evening, The Killers will perform at the USO’s “Salute To The Military”, a special Fourth of July concert on the White House South Lawn. The band will be joined by Brandi Carlisle and Cedric the Entertainer.

“It is a monumental honor for us to be a part of this 4th of July celebration at the White House,” said Flowers. “We could never repay the service men and women of this country for their contributions and sacrifice. To perform for them and their families on America’s birthday will be our pleasure.”

And in true American awesomeness, the entire concert will be streamed live on whitehouse.gov, starting at 7pm EST.
