Those Darlins announce headlining tour

It makes sense that vampires would be stellar A&R reps. They fit in perfectly at dark, smoke filled clubs. Living forever gives them the advantage of recognizing social trends, and they are pretty damn persuasive. The recent results: the various artists behind the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and garage/country outfit Those Darlins.

Sure, Those Darlins have been making noise in the indie music world for a couple years, but a recent appearance on HBO’s True Blood is guaranteed to generate more fans. No, the Murfreesboro, TN, natives weren’t filmed slurping any blood, but their single “Wild One” was noticeably playing on Merlotte’s Jukebox. And the baby-vamp Jessica Hamby just announced how much she loves the group on her video blog.

Those Darlins will remain in the bayou to commence their upcoming headlining tour. The group’s next stint of live shows will begin July 9th in Jackson, MS, before heading off to party capitals like Morning View, KY, Birmingham, AL, and Iowa City, IA. The foursome will also be performing in larger markets like Atlanta, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Chicago. The tour will close out October 8th at the much beloved Austin City Limits. The Strange Boys and Gentleman Jesse will perform opening duties during the first half of the tour before giving way to Turbo Fruits in Cleveland. A complete list of dates follows, and expect more performances to be announced as time nears.

In other Those Darlins news, their cover of John Prine’s “Let’s Talk Dirty in Hawaiian” was recently released on the Oh Boy Records tribute to Prine, Broken Heats and Dirty Windows. The album also features tracks by Justin Vernon, Dear Tick, and the Drive-By Truckers.
