In last week’s one-two punch, Roxy Music announced a reunion on Bryan Ferry’s new solo album, followed rather swiftly by news that the band — which first formed in 1971 — would be touring in honor of their 40th anniversary. Now that you’re dazed, how’s this for a kill shot: via RollingStone.com, a first taste from Ferry’s October 26th Olympia release in the form of a video for “You Can Dance”. Is that a KO or what?
In a video that could be easily mistaken for any teen starlet’s sexy club scene, filled with pelvic gyrations, sultry looks, and plenty of shiny, knee-high dresses, Ferry does what Ferry does best: Make the music the focus. Despite being born in 1945, Ferry’s still got it. The smoky vibe of the song is perfect for anything a club experience could entail, be it someone romantic rendezvous to the stylized droning of Ferry’s voice or some bumpin’ and grindin’ to a hot guitar part. Check yourself, Britney.
Olympia is scheduled to hit stores October 26th via Virgin Records. Stay tuned for more album news and tour details as they’re announced.
